Before the time of the surgery I was feeling nervous and concerned, but after reassuring myself about what a great job HSS does I gave them my full faith and trust. After my surgery my pain was managed so well, and the nurses and staff were all great. You can tell that they really do care. I still cannot believe how fast I was making progress with walking, steps, leaving the hospital, and so on. I cannot thank everyone in HSS enough for how much they helped me. Verified Patient
Dr. Widmann and all of the staff at HSS were phenomenal throughout our stay at the hospital. In fact, Avery was crying at discharge because she did want to leave!! She had the best time with the nurses, Child Life specialists and other patients. They all truly made it as good of an experience as possible. Verified Patient
My first impression of Dr. Widmann was that he was tall and gentle, he spoke to myself and my husband, but paid very close attention to my son Issiah and directed most of his question to him as if they had known each other before. He made my son feel very comfortable and showed him picture of his spine and explained to him in a way that an 11 year old could understand what was about to happen to him. After my first visit, I knew that we were making the right decision. Verified Patient
My son’s scoliosis has been getting worse since his early teens, our family doctor had referred us to Dr. Widmann and the HSS, to see if surgery was an option for him. It has been a few months since his surgery was done and he is healing well. Dr. Widmann’s staff is extremely caring and conscientious, they have called to check in and scheduled numerous follow-ups. Being born with spinal issues, I have been in and out of the hospital since my childhood. My parents have always done their research, going from doctor to doctor, and it wasn’t until we met with Dr. Roger Widmann that we started to make some real progress. I’m now 19 and after a few surgeries, I’m completely pain-free, and my quality of life has never been better. Jason D.
After an awful accident our daughter developed a bad spinal deformity. We were recommended Dr. Widmann and it was the best thing for her. He was extremely diligent in her care and exhausted every non-invasive method possible before telling us she needed surgery, which went extremely well. Its been over a year since her surgery, and our daughter is almost fully recovered. She is able to live a normal teenage life, aside from having to wear a brace from time to time. Allen S.
My son was recommended to have spinal surgery, but my husband and I had been very weary over this since there’s a ton of complications and things that can go wrong. We drove all the way to NYC for a second opinion (we’re from West Virginia), and met with Dr. Widmann at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He provided us with a number of alternatives to surgery and recommended that we put it off for as long as possible. Our son is a few years older now, and we are set for surgery next year with Dr. Widmann. For any parents out there, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Widmann, he’s very understanding, and isn’t overly aggressive in his treatment. Viktoriya A.
Dr. Widmann is by far the best pediatric spine surgeon around. He is one of the hardest workers, and never seems to give up on his patients. Our child suffers from extreme scoliosis and without Dr. Widmann’s care I don’t know where we’d be. Dr. Widmann performed a magnetic growing rod procedure on our daughter, and she has been consistently improving over the last two years. Dr. Widmann prepared an entire treatment plan, that spanned over 6 years! Planning different pricedures at different times, all the while monitoring her health to make sure she was improving on schedule. Dr. Widmann truly helped our family and if your child is suffering from any spinal issues, he’s the only one to see.
I have been a patient of Dr. Widmann since my early teens. He performed my first spinal procedure at the age of 12. While being under his care I no longer feel any pain in my back and neck and am able to take part in regular daily activities. I am currently wearing a brace for up to 8 hours every day, in preparation for my spinal fusion surgery.
